They say the kitchen is the heart of the home. Well, I heart (love) these three kitchens very much. Completely different in their style, layout and colour scheme, you could wonder why I didn’t choose three which are similar. I like coastal style interiors but I also like a little bit of rustic (not too much) and a small amount of shabby chic (again not too much) and I think these three have those elements. Sometimes, it is interesting to like different styles and not to be completely stuck to one look (although I do have a favourite).
I like the simplicity of this kitchen. The white colour scheme teamed with natural wood brings a New England feel to this room. What I also like about it is that it’s not perfect, the edges of the table are a little distressed as is the coffee table to the left. It gives you the feeling that you wouldn’t be afraid to use the kitchen and I think this is good. A real kitchen is a workable space, not a showroom piece. This kitchen looks good and is functional at the same time (photo source).
This kitchen is the style you would find in a cottage or a barn conversion. A very functional space with hard wearing worktops, beautiful floor tiles, and again, in my opinion, a realistic work space which is not overstated. Everything you need is in this (not massive) room and has been designed with the ‘work triangle’ in mind. Everything is accessible without walking around too much. I think this is a very well designed space (photo source).
What can I say about this kitchen? It’s just WOW for me! Painted white floorboards, white stone wall, lovely beams, and those pale blue units are to die for. This colour scheme is just up my street, light, airy and fresh with lots of feminine touches. I am also a fan of some open shelving in kitchens to show off nice crockery, glassware etc. I love the cream range cooker too. This is a space I would very much like to cook in, it makes me feel good looking at it. If there is any criticism at all, it would have to be the table cloth as I am not a fan of them. In my opinion, a table should be seen and not covered. I would prefer to see the table painted pale blue to match the chairs and the units, with a complimentary table runner down the centre and some matching mats and coasters. Alternatively a lovely rustic wooden table to pick up the colour in the beams, window and door. Then this room would be perfect (photo source).
